Alta La Verne Scown Pearson, age 94, died October 30, 2015 at the Heckmann Residence in Clifton, Texas.

Graveside services were held at 11:30 A.M., Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at the Andice Cemetery near Georgetown, Texas with Rev. Clint Hopson and Rev. Robert Boyce officiating.

Alta La Verne Scown was born in Loraine, Texas on January 21, 1921.
She was the oldest of six children born to parents John Homer Scown & Treva Alice Compton Scown.

La Verne is survived by her step-son Todd Pearson and wife Martha and ten nieces and nephews all of whom affectionately called her "Aunt Midge".

After attending school in Loraine, La Verne moved with her family to Monahans, Texas where she lived and worked for several years before moving to the Los Angeles, California area. La Verne loved gardening and always had a beautiful yard in the sunny, California climate. She never strayed far from her Texas roots and would come home every summer for a long visit, bringing with her a lovely tan and pictures of her gorgeous flowers. After retiring in California, La Verne moved back to Texas and met Charles Wesley Pearson. They married in Andice TX on April 20, 1973. La Verne and Charlie retired and moved to Lakeside Village, Texas where they made lots of friends, enjoyed days of fishing and hosted many good times in their backyard overlooking Lake Whitney.
