Anna Carpenter

July 24, 1943 — May 6, 2014

Anna Bell Conrad Carpenter, age 70, long time resident of Meridian, Texas, passed away Tuesday evening, May 6, 2014 in Glen Rose.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 A. M., Friday, May 9, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Meridian, with Rev. Kevin Wilson officiating. Interment was in the Meridian Memorial Cemetery, State Hwy. #144, Meridian. Pallbearers were Logan Carpenter, Jarett Carpenter, Bradly Roberts, Dax Gann, Kyle Carpenter, and Dakota Ivey. A visitation was held from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Thursday evening, May 8th, at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian.

Mrs. Carpenter was born July 24, 1943 in Clifton, Texas to Henry Otto Conrad and Minnie M. Heine Conrad. She was raised and educated in and around Meridian and graduated from Meridian High School. On May 1, 1964, she married James Carpenter in Hillsdale, Michigan and later made Meridian their forever home. Mrs. Carpenter worked for the Meridian ISD and the Bosque County tax office. As their children became older and participated in sports, Anna Bell and James were avid supporters of all athletic events, encouraging all of the team members as well as their own. This love of athletics and team participation then gravitated to their grandchildren and there were very few school events that Anna Bell and James did not attend. Anna Bell was also a very fine cook, providing wonderful meals for her family and family friends. She displayed other talents such as sewing and making gifts, and while her health still permitted, was an active member of the Meridian First United Methodist Church, participating in all activities. She especially loved working with children during Vacation Bible School and her artistic talents in providing amazing décor to transform an ordinary room or building into an adventure land to stimulate the minds and imaginations of the children in attendance was commented on by many (and was often left for a short while so others could enjoy her creations).

Survivors include her husband, James Carpenter of Meridian, her children, Jimmy Carpenter and wife, Shelly, of Meridian, David Carpenter of Bell, and Debra Roberts of San Antonio; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild that is due in July; sisters, Bobbie Reinhardt and husband, Gene, of Crawford, Barbara Day and husband, Doug, of Kopperl, and Donna Conrad of Crawford; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Memorials may be made to the Meridian First United Methodist Church, 300 North Main Street, Meridian, Texas 76665.
