Billy Ray Forsythe age 90, of Kopperl, passed away on January 19, 2026 with his family by his side.
Graveside services will take place on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 2 P.M., at the Kimball Cemetery near Kopperl, Texas. Visitation will be at 1 P.M. under the pavilion at the cemetery. Pallbearers are Blake Forsythe, Chase Forsythe, Jeremy Eller, Brad Eller, Colton Webb and Collin Spires.
Billy Ray was born on November 22, 1935 in Johnson County, Texas to Lewis Allen and Lillie Bell Forsythe. He grew up and graduated from Kopperl in 1954. After high school he went to General Dynamics in Fort Worth before finding his true passion as a self employed carpenter. Later in life he took on a new adventure and went on to become a rural mail carrier with the United States Postal Service and retired after 17 years of service. Shortly before retiring he and Leta made their way back to Bosque County to enjoy the simple retirement life in the country. During his retirement Billy enjoyed traveling, taking numerous cruises with his wife, Leta, at least one time a year. Once the cruise fever wore off they began bus tours to see different sights that could not be seen from the water. Billy attended the Morgan Baptist Church in Morgan, Texas and was a member of Kopperl Masonic Lodge #292 since 1960.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Leta Forsythe; children, Darlene Whitenburg and husband, David, LeAnne Webb and husband, Carlos, Steven Forsythe, Robert Forsythe and wife, April; grandchildren, Brad Eller, Jeremy Eller, Cody Lemon, Shanna Foremny, April Dayton, Melanie Webb, Katie Webb, Carlie Evans, Colton Webb, Brittni Allen, Chase Forsythe, Blake Forsythe, Ava Tatum; 20 great-grandchildren and one on the way; brothers, Jimmy Forsythe, Tommy Forsythe and wife, Betty; sisters, JoAnn Young and husband, William, Joyce Runnels; and numerous other relatives and many friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Allen and Lille Bell Forsythe; and sister, Betty Cogdill.
Arrangements were entrusted to Lawson Funeral Home, Meridian, Texas 254-435-2792.
