Blanche Rose Cummings Blackman

Blanche Rose Cummings Blackman, age 98, peacefully departed this life on July 4, 2025. A cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Blanche filled her years with love, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 2 P.M., Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian. Pastor Ryan Pederson from St. Olaf's Lutheran Church in Cranfills Gap will officiate. Burial will be in the Meridian Cemetery. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 12 P.M. until 2 P.M., Saturday, July 12, 2025.

Blanche's professional journey began after she graduated as Valedictorian from Morgan High School in 1942. She furthered her education at Clifton College and 4C Business school in Waco, Texas. Her career as a stenographer for several doctors at the Veteran Affairs Hospital in Waco laid a solid foundation for her life's work. As her children grew, she embraced the role of a devoted homemaker before fulfilling her career in banking. In what would become a hallmark of her dedication, she continued to serve as a bookkeeper at Dobbs Car Dealer in Hillsboro, Texas, until she was 80 years old.

Those who knew Blanche will fondly recall her remarkable cooking and her welcoming spirit. Her home was a welcome mat where family and friends gathered; the door was always open to anyone in need. Blanche possessed an extraordinary ability to feed all who crossed her threshold, providing both nourishment and comfort. Her legacy is deeply rooted in the bonds she nurtured within her family and community.

Blanche was truly the rock of her family, always placing others before herself. She encouraged positivity, rarely complained, and approached life with a remarkable sense of love and kindness. As a devoted genealogist, she cherished the time spent unraveling her family's history and sharing those stories with her loved ones.

She is survived by her beloved daughters, Joyce Kotulek and her husband, Dennis, of Iowa Park, and Rita Hanson of Cranfills Gap; her son Dan Blackman and his wife, Kathy, of Hillsboro; her grandchildren Darren Hanson and wife, Karen, of Clifton, Sarah Pruitt and husband, Randy, Erica Blackman, Brent Kotulek, Leslie Davis, Rosalind Rooks and husband, David, Susan Harisis and husband, Christopher, and David Davis; she also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Wade Hanson, Marti Sweetser and husband, Brannick, Bryan Kotulek, Bryce Kotulek, Blake Kotulek, Derik Wheeler, Darrell Wheeler, Douglas Wheeler, Samantha Howell, Sarah Rooks, Ace (Bella) Rooks, Briana Rooks, Rayden Corbin, and Talon Collins; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Blanche was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Loucille Cummings; her husband Kenneth Blackman; her son Joe Blackman; and her son-in-law Glenn Hanson. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and their memories will continue to resonate through the love she instilled in her family.

Her greatest accomplishment and source of pride was undoubtedly her family, who will forever remember her as an extraordinary matriarch. Blanche Rose Cummings Blackman may have left this world, but the imprint she made on the lives of those around her will never be forgotten.
