Bobby Jack Davenport age 67 of Fort Worth and formerly of Meridian, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian.
Bobby Jack Davenport was born on December 21, 1949 in Meridian, Texas to Harvey Lee Davenport, Sr., and Gladys Oneita Holloway Davenport. He was educated in the Meridian Independent School District and attended the Meridian Elementary Colored School, the graduated from Meridian High School. He also attended Hill Junior College. At an early age he became a member at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He soon moved to Fort Worth to live with his oldest sister who was in many ways a "second Mom". Bobby Jack worked in many different areas; meat cutter, mechanic, and at one pint a health care provider. He had a passion for remembering things of the past. He loved doing yard work and could really enjoy a good game of dominoes.
Mourning his loss are his daughters, Deondra Person, Rakeada Tilghman (Janel); sons, Lamont Moore, Cornelius Shields; sisters, Johnnie, Frances, and Sue; maternal aunt and uncle, Faye and James Clay; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Bobby Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and Harvey Davenport, Sr.; sister, Earnestine; brother and sister-in-law, Harvey, Jr. and Mary Louise; and brother-in-law, John Wayne.
