In the 78 years that Bobby lived, he was a son, brother, husband, dad, papa, uncle and friend. He was born on July 11, 1945 in Meridian, Texas to J.T. and Lillie Mae Wellborn. He was saved by Jesus Christ in the First Baptist Church of Iredell in 1967. On October 14, 1966 he married Diana Reddell in Gholson, Texas. Together they raised two sons, Joel and Troy. He started work after school on Flat Top as a ranch hand and later Lone Star Gas in Joshua for 12 years. In 1980 they moved back to Iredell and he worked for Comanche Peak. He worked for Bosque County for many years and there he made lifelong friends. It was here that he rebuilt a road grader that functioned as a hydraulic brush cutter that saved the county so much money it made the paper. His family knew him as a master fabricator. If you could draw it with a pencil he could build it. He worked at the Powell Ranch for a short time before returning back to the Bosque County Pct. 2 where he worked for a few more years before he retired in 2013. Bobby was all about his family and friends. If you wanted to see him light up, all you had to do was give him an opportunity to speak about his family. His word was golden. If he said he would do it then you could expect it to be done. Bobby believed in a firm handshake and taught his sons to always look a man in the eyes when you talk to him. He was known for the statement, "when you work for a man you give him an honest days work".
He is preceded in death by his parents, J.T. and Lillie Mae Wellborn.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Diana; sons, Joel Wellborn and wife, Regina, and Troy Wellborn and wife, Jacque; grandchildren, Sheldon, Taylor, Micah, and Emily Wellborn; brother, James T., Jr. Wellborn and wife, Judy; sisters, Rexie VanWinkle and husband, Wayne, Dartha Kettering and husband, David; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
