Carolyn LaVerne Cooper

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Carolyn LaVerne Cooper, who departed this life on March 17, 2026, at the age of 82. Carolyn passed away peacefully at her home after a long and courageous battle with COPD, surrounded by her loving family. Her unwavering spirit and steadfast grace throughout her life and illness remain a testament to her strength and resilience.

Born on February 6, 1944, in the warm embrace of Corpus Christi, Texas, Carolyn was the cherished daughter of Naoma Opal Boyd Price and Charles Benjamin "Son" Price. Carolyn's journey through life was marked by the deep love she shared with her husband, Robert Wayne Cooper, whom she married on November 12, 1966, in Fort Worth, Texas. Together, they built a family filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Robert preceded her in death in 2003.

Education was important to Carolyn, who attended Lewisville High School and later attended classes in psychology at Hill Junior College. Her work career included time as Unit Secretary at Goodall Witcher Hospital and later Hillcrest Hospital in Waco and showcased her dedication and compassion, particularly in her tireless advocacy for veterans.

Carolyn spent over 20 years working with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Military Order of the Purple Heart at the Clifton MOPH #4077 chapter, where she held local, district, and state offices. Her commitment to service extended to her roles with the Ladies Auxiliary of Clifton VFW and the Clifton Masonic Order of the Eastern Star.

A woman of many interests, Carolyn loved researching her family's history, a pursuit that connected generations and enriched the lives of those around her. She had a passion for traveling, but her greatest joy came from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Naoma and Charles "Son" Price, her beloved husband Robert Wayne Cooper, her son Jeffery Glenn Cooper, her sister Linda Kay Phelps, and her brother Charles Lester Price. Her memory will be lovingly cherished by her surviving family: daughter LaDawn Garland and husband Darrell, daughter Robin Cooper Rider, Grandchildren Michael and wife Elizabeth children Everett, Emerie and baby Sadie Lee; Justin Garland and wife Meagan and son Jackson Wyatt; Amanda Ogle and husband Cody and daughter LeeAnna Elizabeth; Jarrett Summers, Jeffery Cooper Jr. and Robert "Bobby" Cooper. A brother Rodney Price and wife Carla and sister Ann Minton and a host of nieces and nephews. 

A celebration of Carolyn's life will be held on March 31, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the DFW National Cemetery, located at 200 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Wounded Warriors, an organization that was dear to Carolyn's heart.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff of Goodall Witcher and Clifton Lutheran Hospice for their exceptional care and support during Carolyn's final days. Carolyn Laverne Cooper touched the lives of all who knew her with her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. A devout Christian her legacy of service and family devotion will forever remain in our hearts. She leaves behind a tapestry of love that will continue to comfort and inspire us in her absence.
