David Splawn, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026, in Meridian, Texas. Born on January 17, 1945, in Dallas, Texas, David lived a full and meaningful life marked by dedication to his family, faith, and community.

David graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. During his time there, he was an active member of the Theta Chi Fraternity, Delta Phi Chapter. His academic achievements and fraternity involvement laid the foundation for a life characterized by integrity and strong relationships.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, David served his country with honor. His military service exemplified his steadfast commitment to duty and responsibility—qualities that remained central to his character throughout his life.

David was predeceased by his loving wife, Reanee Splawn; his parents, Pauline and J.D. Splawn; and other cherished family members. He is survived by his son Jason Splawn and granddaughter Hayley; daughter Shalyn McDearmon and grandson Benjamin Wolfe III; sister Paula Myers; niece Lorie Butts and her husband Jeff along with their children Brittany and Logan Patch; as well as numerous cousins and their families who will forever hold him close in their hearts.

David’s passions brought joy not only to himself but also to those around him. He loved snow skiing and boating at the lake—activities that reflected his adventurous spirit. A devoted sports enthusiast, he enjoyed attending games and cheering on his favorite teams. Music was another source of happiness for David, as was supporting the hobbies of his children and grandchildren—a testament to the deep love he had for his family.

Known for being trustworthy, honest, kind-hearted, organized, and a dedicated list maker, David’s character left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. A man of faith throughout his life, he found strength in his beliefs and shared that strength with others through acts of kindness and compassion.

The family requests that, instead of flowers, donations be made in David's name to First Methodist Church of Meridian as a tribute to his enduring faith and commitment to helping others.

David Splawn will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, integrity, and devotion will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 20, 2026, at 1:00 PM at First Methodist Church, 300 N Main St, Meridian, TX 76665.
