Donald Ray Anderson

Donald "Don" Anderson passed away on July 13, 2026 at his residence in Cleburne with his loving family by his side.

Donald "Don" Anderson was born on July 23, 1940, in Johnson County, Texas, to John "Son" Anderson and Lera (Osborn) Anderson. He was raised in Rio Vista, Texas, where he attended school and graduated from Rio Vista High School with the Class of 1958.

Following graduation, Don began his career with North Texas Steel in Fort Worth. He later joined General Motors, where he dedicated 37 years of service before retiring in 1997.

On August 4, 1961, Don married the love of his life, Kathryn Robinson, in Fort Worth, Texas. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and the values of hard work and community.

Don became a member of the Johnson County Sheriff's Posse in 1982 and remained a devoted member for many years. In recognition of his dedication and lasting contributions, he was honored with the Johnson County Sheriff's Posse Legacy Award in 2025. He was also a proud member of the Kopperl Masonic Lodge number 292.

A true cowboy at heart, Don found his greatest joy outdoors. He loved rodeoing, roping, cattle ranching, producing hay, and working the land. Above all, he treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife, Kathy Anderson of Cleburne; children, Michael Anderson and wife, Jackie, of Cleburne, Todd Anderson and wife, Laura, of Arlington, and Kellie Hyer and husband, Ashley, of Shalimar, Florida; grandchildren, Mallary Decker, Eliot Anderson, BJ Thompson , Krystle Smith Hammons, Witni Miller, Sonni Bayless, Jack Pyle, Tabby Pyle, Kennedy Hyer, and Trip Hyer; 12 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and numerous friends.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 10 A.M., Kopperl Methodist Church. Burial with masonic rites will be held in the Kopperl Cemetery. Pastor Darrel Phillips will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Anderson, Todd Anderson, Laken Bayless, Micky Smith, Ashley Hyer, Jarrett Robinson and Eliot Anderson.

God can be heard in the jingle of a spur, the thunder of hooves, and the bawl of a newborn calf. May Don be at peace with the Lord, Amen.
