Donald Eugene Bridges

Lake Whitney resident Donald Eugene Bridges, 81, died March 20, 2020, at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Waco, Texas.

A memorial service will be announced to be held sometime in the summer.

Mr. Bridges was born August 19, 1938, in Harris, Okla.to Roy and Billie Bridges.  Mr. Bridges served in the United State Navy from 1955-1960 as a Machinist Mate aboard the submarine USS Razorback SS 394 and aircraft carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt CVN 42.  After his naval service, he spent over 60 years in the construction industry as a remodeling contractor with a stint as a police officer and 5 years at the New Orleans shipyard. Mr. Bridges was a master carpenter who could build almost anything. Mr. Bridges spent most of his adult life in Texas. Mr. Bridges married his second wife Janet Ann Fox on Sept, 1, 1979. They built a home on the shores of Lake Whitney and raised 4 sons. Mr. Bridges was known for his great sense of humor and funny stories. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Janet Bridges; sons John Southard, Andy Southard, Matt Southard, Jason Southard, Rodney Bridges, Donnie Bridges, Ronnie Bridges; daughters Sherry Attaway, Debra Bridges; brother Bobby Bridges; sisters Mary Choat and Linda Hicks; along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Harold Bridges.
