Doty Patton, age 77, Meridian, passed away early Wednesday morning, October 29, at her residence near Meridian.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 1, 2014, in the Meridian First Baptist Church with Rev. Colin Errington and Rev. Richard Creech officiating. Interment was in the Meridian Cemetery, Meridian, Texas.
A visitation was held from 5:00 until 6:30 P.M., Friday, October 31, 2014 at Lawson Funeral Home.
Serving as her pallbearers are Chris Anderson, Joel Anderson, Cole Word, Roger Parsons, Bruce Knudson and Don McMahon.
Mrs. Patton was born February 6, 1937 in Plano, Texas to Verda Love Rose Dunn and Theron Tennison Dunn. She was raised and educated in the McKinney school district. While in high school in McKinney she excelled in their women's basketball program. On March 2, 1957 she became the bride of Don Robert (Bob) Patton in Dallas, Texas. After living in the Plano area for many years, Bob and Doty moved to their home near Meridian in 1980. Doty was a retired insurance agency secretary, and an active member of the Meridian First Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School Class.
Doty Patton was a kind, compassionate and loving woman. She enjoyed reading books, cooking, laughing and playing computer word games with friends and family. Most of all, she loved her family.
Survivors include her husband, Don R. (Bob) Patton, of Meridian; children, Rheann Patton of Meridian, Micki Lynn Patton Cannon and husband, Joey, of Meridian, Douglas M. Patton and wife, Christine, of McKinney; grandchildren, Nick Powell and wife, Ella, of Keller, Jeffrey Dunn Patton of McKinney, and Ashley Elizabeth Patton of McKinney; sisters, Theresa Anderson of Plano, and Santa Rose Dunn of Garland; brother, Danny Mac Dunn of Centerville; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theron T. Dunn and Verda Love Rose Dunn; and a grandson, Brooks Wade Powell.
