Felix C. Lira

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Felix Lira, lovingly known to many as "Popo." On August 3, 2026, he passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his cherished family.

Felix was born on July 11, 1945, in El Campo, Texas, to Antonio and Herlinda Lira. On July 20, 1963, he married the love of his life, Ozalia Lira, in Meridian, Texas. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love.

Popo spent many years "makin' a hand" as a loader operator, a phrase that reflected both his hardworking spirit and his willingness to do whatever was needed. He was known for being helpful, loyal, intelligent, and hardworking, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

On February 29, 1992, he was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. His faith was a guiding force in his life, and he found great joy in sharing Bible truths with his family, friends, neighbors, and all who would listen.

A man of many talents, Popo loved staying busy and creating with his hands. He had a passion for woodworking, took pride in preparing delicious meals, and especially enjoyed fishing and eating seafood. His hands were rarely still, always building, fixing, cooking, or helping someone in need. One of the things those who loved him will remember most was his singing and the way he shared his love of music with everyone around him.

Above all, Popo was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His kindness, generosity, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Ozalia Lira; his daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa and Hervey Gonzalez, Maria and Sergio Perez, and Victoria Pereira; his grandchildren, Daniel and Sandra Gonzalez, Alicia and Armando Martinez, Marissa Perez, and Isela Perez; and his great-grandchildren, Alexa and Adely Gonzalez, and Elias, Emma, Enahi, and Elani Martinez.

He is also survived by his siblings, Petra and Sirilo Alonzo, Domingo and Carmen Estrada, Margarita Alvarado, Reynaldo and Anita Lira, and Martin and Rosa Lira, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Herlinda Lira; several siblings; his beloved daughter, Susie Alonso; and his son-in-law, Jose Pereira.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in the memories we shared and in the hope of God's promises. Popo's legacy of faith, love, hard work, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
