Floyde Carnes

Floyde Bernard Carnes, age 70, of Clifton, passed away on Friday, Nov. 29.2013, in a Waco hospital.

The family will have a private memorial service

Born in Wills Point, Texas. Floyde attended Wills Point High School and graduated with the class of 1961. He played football and pole vaulting. Later attending Business School in Dallas. He went on to own and operate Carnes Equipment. At the time of his death he worked for TX State Hwy Department, where his fellow crewman were not only his coworkers but his friends.
A hard working, honest and giving man would best describe him. On any given day you would find him hard at work, either on the job or in the garden. Floyde was never one for letting life pass him by getting the most from each day. In his earlier years you might find him on the ski slopes of Colorado, riding his motorcycle across the state or sailing the open waters wherever his boat might take him. He loved his kids. He enjoyed taking them to work with him, going to the amusement park, tubing down the Guadeloupe River, watching cartoons or playing a board game. Just about anything they loved to do, so did he, truly a kid at heart. When he became a grandfather, nothing changed, he was always up for a fun game, taking them for rides on his backhoe or to cool down at the local swimming hole.... they loved their Grandpa Cowboy! Floyde was an avid organic gardener and grew some of the best tomatoes in Bosque County. He was a beekeeper and enjoyed giving the honey to friends and family. He was a good neighbor and friend. He would help anyone anytime. He was of the Methodist faith.
He was loved and respected; he will be missed by so many but will live on in our hearts forever.

Preceded in death by his parents: Hoyt and Lillie Mae Carnes, daughter: Melody Carnes, beloved aunt Faye and other aunts and uncles.

Survived by his wife: Margie Carnes of Clifton, Texas, sons: Mason Carnes and wife, Catherine, of Belmont, N.C., Jeff Summers and wife, Tracy, of Princeton, TX, daughters: Shannon Summers, of Wylie, TX., Nannette Riches and husband, Kyle, of Enumclaw, WA., grandchildren: Kaleigh, KC and Caleb Floyde, of Enumclaw, WA., sister: Sue Lloyd and husband, Don, of Dickinson, TX., several cousins, nieces, and a nephew.
Also survived by one sad dog, Cujo.

In lieu of flowers the family ask for a memorial donations to Brazos River Rescue or Helping Hands food pantry.
