Gladys was born on July 1, 1943, in Clifton, Texas, to A. H. Conrad and Erna (Stoebner) Conrad.  She lived most of her life near Meridian, Texas, attended schools in Meridian and graduated from Meridian High School in 1962.  On December 30, 1967, Gladys became the bride of Don R. White, and this past December they celebrated 50 years together.  Gladys worked at the Texas New Mexico Power Company for 43 years and at the same time worked evenings and weekends alongside her husband, Don, for 45 years at White's Photography Studio.  They shared a passion of working with each other.

Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clifton, Texas was very important to Gladys and Don, and she spent countless hours in church functions and activities as this was where she was baptized, confirmed, and married.  She served as a Sunday School teacher, on the board of Stewardship, and Financial Secretary multiple times.  She was also active in the LWML.

Gladys had so many wonderful qualities of life including a great love of children and people.  She was compassionate, patient, and had a great love of God, family, and church.   She was a caretaker and loved to help people.  Gladys had a strong faith throughout her life which remained true even in her death.  Her examples of living and the love she shared with her family, friends, and acquaintances will be her legacy to all of those that were fortunate enough to have known her.  Jesus' words over Gladys in confirmation was "be faithful unto death and you will receive the crown of life" (Rev. 2:10b).  Gladys professed this faith until the end of her earthly life, and we know she has received the crown of life that will never be taken from her.

Gladys is survived by her husband, Don; daughter, Kimberly Smith and husband, Jason, of Palmer, TX; daughter, Kristy Moore and husband, Jody, of Oak Point, TX; son, Kevin White and wife, Kimberly, of Hewitt, TX; granddaughter, Brittany Smith, of Palmer, TX; and step-grandchildren, Galen, Eugene, and Kesi Moore.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Erna and A. H. Conrad, and her sister, Joyce Conrad Hight and husband, Stanley.
