Ruth was born Ima Ruth Nichols on May 25, 1937 in Bosque County, Meridian, Texas.  She was the first child of the late Jack and Nellie Paulson Nichols of Meridian, Texas.  “Ruthie” graduated from Meridian High School in 1956.  She then graduated “Isbell’s University of Beauty Culture” in Fort Worth.  She married Robert Earl Ermis on April 14, 1957.  Her cosmetology skills were honed at Family Beauty Shoppe on Azle Avenue.  She also worked at Pangburns Chocolates.  Her life-long special interests were:  sewing, photography, genealogy, scrap-booking, crafting, and collecting.  Ruth’s friends also fondly recall her excellent cooking skills.  In recognition of her many years of volunteer work at W.J. Turner Elementary School, J.P. Elder Middle School, and North Side High school, The Parents and Teachers Association, in 1972, presented her with an Honorary Life Membership by The Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers.  In 2006, Ruth received a special honor from Azle Avenue Baptist Church for her many years of faithful service to God in the children’s nursery and other areas of the church.  Working with the church’s children’s ministry gave her life abundant joy.
