Jack Melton Hardin Sr.

December 30, 1945 — October 29, 2025

Morgan, Texas

Jack Melton Hardin Sr. was born on December 30, 1945, in McKinney, Texas, to F.O. and Marie Hardin. He brought joy and laughter to every life he touched and spent nearly his entire life mastering the art of mechanics. His career as a mechanic and a jack-of-all-trades was marked by an impressive ability to work on anything from cars to tractors, as well as tackling the dreaded lawn mowers whenever needed. Jack's resourcefulness knew no bounds, and his hands-on skills were nothing short of legendary.

Jack attended Cleburne High School, graduating with the Class of 1964. Shortly thereafter, he embraced a sense of duty and adventure by joining the United States Marine Corps in 1970. He proudly served until his honorable discharge in 1975, embodying the spirit of resilience and strength that defined him throughout his life.

Jack was a Christian man whose faith guided him in both good times and challenges. He believed in hard work, kindness, and lending a helping hand to others whenever he could.

In his personal life, Jack radiated warmth and humor. Whether he was sharing a joke, encouraging his children, or engaging in shenanigans with friends and family, he had a remarkable ability to make the best of every situation. His vivacious personality made him not only fun-loving and outgoing but also compassionate to those around him. He truly knew how to light up a room and uplift those who needed it.

One of Jack's greatest joys was spending time outdoors. He played all sports for many years and was always the superstar. He loved golf, baseball, and softball. He relished every moment he could, whether dove hunting, fishing, or enjoying countless adventures with family at car shows. His love for old cars was second to none, revealing a passion that transcended mere interest and blossomed into something deeply ingrained in his spirit.

As a family man, Jack's proudest accomplishments were his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He held a special place in his heart for each of them, forging bonds that will last a lifetime. Jack’s legacy includes the love of his life Linda Hardin, his sons Jack Hardin Jr., Jeff Hardin, Jason Hardin and wife Paula, Josh Hardin, daughter April Hardin, and adopted daughter Christina. He was also blessed with 13 grandchildren: Dylan, Savanah, Emma, Will, Sarah, Wesley, Max, Hannah, Jamie, Amelia, Hank, Joshua, and Hogan, as well as three great-grandchildren: Payton, Levi, and Olivia; along with many nieces and nephews. He shared a strong connection with his siblings, including Robert Hardin, Kelly Hardin and wife Kathy, Shonda Howard and husband Delmon, and Tony Hardin and wife Tammie.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, F.O. and Marie Hardin, and his infant daughter, Jaclyn Marie.

In recent years, Jack faced challenges as his quality of life declined since 2020. However, true to the Marine spirit within him, he approached each day with courage and a commitment to making the most out of every moment. On October 29, 2025, the Good Lord called him home suddenly, leaving a profound void in the lives of those who loved him dearly — including his best canine friend Spud, who will miss him the most, and Sugar.
