James Joe Bolinger, Sr., age 86, of Lampasas, passed away early Monday morning, March 24, 2014, in a Clifton nursing facility.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 26, in the Center Cemetery near Lometa, Texas, with Rev. Herb Lammert officiating.
Mr. Bolinger was born July 20, 1927, in Indian Creek, Texas, a son of the late Malcom and Eula Lewellan Bolinger. He was raised and educated in Indian Creek.
He and his future bride, Sammye Bawcom, worked together in a local grocery store for several years. Mr. Bolinger enlisted with the U. S. Navy and served for several years with the Seabees. After his time with the Navy, he married Sammye. He and his wife operated a grocery store and ranched in Oklahoma before moving to their ranch near Lometa in 1985. Again, ranching until health forced him to retire. His wife passed away in 2005.
He is survived by his children, Suzanne McLennan and husband, Bodie, of Lampasas, Linda Bolinger of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, Jim Bolinger and wife, Beki, of Clifton and Judy Bolinger of Wheat Ridge, Colorado; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Bolinger and wife, Sandra, of Midland;
number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
