James Dunn

James D. Dunn, age 81, of Morgan, passed away late Thursday night, April 30, 2015, in the Veterans Hospital in Temple, Texas.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Monday, May 4, 2015, in the Morgan Cemetery with Gerald Green officiating. Pallbearers will be Brian Moore, George Davis, Ricky Parnell, James Ratliff, Leslie Ratliff, David Jones, Randy Durham, and Shawn Hart.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 P.M., Sunday, at Lawson Funeral Home.

James was born July 2, 1933, in Dublin, Texas, where he was raised. He enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1951 and completed his tour of duty in 1955. On January 14, 1956, he was united in marriage to Elmira "Pete" Ratliff in Meridian. The couple lived in various parts but mostly in Morgan. James was a retired truck driver for Central Freight Lines. James was an active member of the Morgan Volunteer Fire Department for many years and was a former member of the Iredell V.F.W. He was affiliated with the Baptist church. His wife preceded him in death on February 14, 2010. James loved life, especially his grand and great-grandchildren. The Morgan Volunteer Fire Department was a big part of his life.

He is survived by his sons, David W. Dunn and wife, Evelyn, of Morgan, James E. Dunn and wife, Darby, of Cleburne and Stephen Dale Dunn of Morgan; grandchildren, Sgt. Dusty Reynolds and wife, Jennifer, Dalton Dunn, Hailee Schuetze, Anthony Ory, Wayne Robinson, and Eric Ecklund; great-grandchildren, Lauren and Alyssa Reynolds; number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
