James Fulton

James Kenneth "J.K." Fulton, age 83, of Meridian passed away at his residence surrounded by his family on Tuesday, March 1, 2016.

Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 4, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Meridian. Interment was at 2:00 P.M., Friday March 4, 2016 at the Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth, Texas. A visitation was held from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel in Meridian. Rev. Charles Collett and Rev. Brandon Carter officiated. Pallbearers were Emil Fritz, Mike Fritz, Doug Fritz, Tony Fritz, Chad Giles, Virgil Curtis, Joe McAninch, and Donna O'Neal.

J.K. was born on December 19, 1932 in Alvarado, Texas to James Carl and Ora Lee Williams Fulton. He graduated from the Memphis High School. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 40 years in Fort Worth, Texas. He retired from Southwestern Bell and moved to Meridian in 1991. He was a very active and faithful member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Meridian. He was united in marriage to Melba Joyce Appleton on October 5, 1960 in Weatherford, Texas. J.K. loved to hunt, fish, and working on lawn mowers. He loved his family and all of his friends.

He is survived by his wife, Melba Joyce Fulton of Meridian; children, Donna O'Neal of Clifton, Mike Fritz of Fort Worth, Emil Fritz and Rosanna McDaniel of Alvarado, Doug Fritz of Fort Worth; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, John Fulton and wife, Jan, of Meridian, and numerous other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Carl and Ora Lee Williams Fulton; sister, Beverly Evans; and a son, Gordon Steven Fritz.
