James Anna Oliver Booker passed peacefully on July 3, 2025 at the age of 85 at Providence Hospital in Waco, Texas.
She was born on August 26, 1939 to Henry and Ruthie Oliver in Steiner, Texas. She spent her youth in Morgan, Texas which served as home until she married Earl Medford Booker and moved to Crawford, Texas where they raised their family. Anna retired from her employment as a nurse's aide. She loved to cook and enjoyed thumbing through cookbooks and magazines for tasty new recipes to try. Puzzles were another hobby that she passionately enjoyed. Whether it was jigsaw puzzles with a lovely image that caught her eye or a word search with a fun topic, Anna was always up to the challenge. Card games were always a particular source of fun, and her grandchildren marveled that Granny was still beating them in games such as Family Feud and Wheel of Fortune in her eighties. Holidays brought a spark to James Anna, and everyone knew that she would sport her holiday sweaters and sweatshirts. She began in November preparing for Thanksgiving and continued through December, happily enjoying the season in her festive attire. James Anna loved Hallmark movies, and Christmas wasn't Christmas without those movies. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of church, family, friends, and food. She was a testament to the fact that love, in its many forms, is all that anyone truly needs for a fulfilling life.
Left to cherish her memories are her children; Douglas Booker and wife Janie of Waco, Texas, Joyce Hall and husband Russell of Clifton, Texas; sister, Evelyn Wright of Clifton, Texas; brother, Thomas Oliver of Clifton, Texas; 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband; Earl Booker, parents; Henry and Ruthie Oliver, sisters; Roystyne McDowell, Henrietta Newman, Marcella McDowell, and Nora Burton.
