Janette Horton Watson Johnson

May 8, 1931 — October 18, 2025

Lubbock, Texas

Janette Horton Watson Johnson repeatedly said she did not want an obituary, so here is what it would have said. She spent 94 years in Lubbock. She was raised on a farm outside the city, near 50th street & I27, now a McDonald’s. Her mother Georgia Carver Horton walked into town for her work. Georgia gave birth to twin girls, Geneva and Janette on May 8, 1931. Both Georgia & Geneva died when the girls were about 3 years old. Janette was raised by her grandmother, and various other relatives. She married Bill Watson, & they had 3 children, Georgette, Billy, & Rusty. They divorced in 1964, when Janette got her LVN license. She worked with Dr. Frank Goodwin, and then at UMC Family Practice. She married Truett Johnson, & he preceded her in death. She loved painting and sewing, and made the best chicken fried steak ever! She was Mamanette to Chris, Carli, and Curt, and to their little ones, too.

The family would like to thank the team at The Legacy for their love and care for our mom. She constantly amazed those that knew her with her wittiness, mobility, & desire to try whatever was “new”.

She will be missed!

Family and Friends will gather to share memories at #1 South Lake Shore Drive, Ransom Canyon, TX, on Friday October 24, 2025, for a come and go from 5pm to 7pm.
