Jimmy Wray won his final battle Wednesday, August 5, 2026. He served his Maker well, turning 80 on July 12, 2026. His life was a testament to courage and strength.
Jimmy was blessed with God-fearing, loving parents and he loved them dearly, as well as a sister who he lost in 2011. His parents taught him hard work ethics, and he practiced that habit up until early 2025. (Only once, I caught him at the work computer listening to Gospel music!) Birthdays were very special to all who knew him well. He would call and sing “Happy Birthday” himself; if you didn’t pick up, he left a voice mail. Now those recordings are priceless. Before he received a cochlear implant, he was diagnosed as legally deaf. Being hearing impaired, God gifted him with a beautiful voice.
He had been married for over 60 years. With his first wife there were two children, three grandchildren, one step-grandchild and two great grandchildren. With his second marriage in 2018 he has one step-child and three step-grandchildren. Also, a niece and nephew and at one time over sixty first cousins!
His Service to his country in Viet Nam shortened his life with the struggles of ALS. Even with the diagnosis, he was an example to all, giving his time to others. He trusted in God and in everlasting life.
On September 4, 2026, 11 AM at Our Lady of the Lake Anglican Church, 658 Hwy 22, Laguna Park, TX there will be an outdoor funeral at the Columbarium of the church. Fellowship and refreshments follow in the Parish Hall.
