Joe Eldon West

June 20, 1940 — May 5, 2024

Cranfills Gap, Texas

Joe Eldon West, 83, lost his life saving his wife and his beloved rescue dog, Chance, on May 5, 2024. Joseph was a man of faith and was born into this life on June 20, 1940 in Abilene, Texas to Roger and Hellen Collins West.

He attended East Texas State University for many years until finding his love for photography. Joseph met the love of his life, Anne DeCocker and they were married on July 25, 1969.  He was a devoted husband, wonderful father and an amazing Christian man. He and Anne would have been married 55 yeas this coming July.  They moved to Bosque County in 1987 when he returned back to his trucking for many more years.

Joseph spent most of his life as a truck driver up until he purchased and became the owner of Bosque Pest & Termite.

Joseph was a proud Vietnam Marine. He attended
One Church at the Cliftex Theatre in Clifton, Texas.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially making memories with his bride.  Joseph had a love for all children and animals.  He was a hard worker making many sacrifices for them. He and Anne spent two to three month annually with Anne's large family in Michigan, whom he adopted as his own long ago.  He cared greatly for others, and he had a very generous heart. His spirit lives on in the hearts of all those who had the honor of knowing him.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; Roger and Helen West, one sister; Kaye and one brother; Paul.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of almost 55 years, Anne DeCocker West; daughter, Jennifer Williamson; nephew Tim West and wife Laura; nephew, Darren; niece, Heather and husband David; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; numerous extended family members, and a host of friends.

Memorial service will be held at 4 P.M., Thursday, May 16, 2024 at One Church at Cliftex Theatre in Clifton, Texas. Pastor Brian Barrett will officiate.
