John Richard Fulton

John Richard Fulton passed away on September 8, 2026, in Grapevine, Texas, after a short illness with loved ones by his side. He was born on October 1, 1930, in Alvarado, Texas, and lived a long life marked by service, hard work, devotion to family, and a generous heart.

John served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He also attended West Texas State University, where he took accounting classes. In his working life, he was a Maintenance General Foreman for General Motors, where he was well known by the nickname “Tiger.” He was respected as a man who could do just about anything. He worked many years on the night shift, spent time in his wood shop, worked on cars and HVAC systems, and was the kind of person who never met a stranger. If someone needed help, John was known for dropping what he was doing to lend a hand.

Among the great joys of his life was his family. On January 24, 1954, John married Janice Rose Clayton in Jefferson, Texas. Together they moved to the Texas Panhandle. John and Jan shared 68 years of marriage, and raised their three sons. For the last 42 years of her life they made their home in Meridian, Texas. Their life together was one of enduring partnership, family, and commitment.

John’s proudest accomplishments were being a father and being a man of service. He loved gathering his family together, and Thanksgiving was always a special and happy occasion. He also leaves behind memories that continue to bring smiles, including his time as a coach, remembered as the adult on the bench on the basketball team when no one else would do it, and treasured trips taking his boys to Dallas Cowboys games. These moments reflected his humor, his presence, and the steady love he gave so freely.

He is survived by his sons, Rick Fulton and Kent Fulton; his grandsons, Ryan Phillips and Kevin Phillips; his granddaughter, April Fulton; and his great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Dylan, Garrett, Isabel, Michael, and Liam. He leaves them the example of a life spent caring for others, working hard, and showing up for family in big and small ways. His love and influence will remain with them always.

John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janice Rose Fulton; his son, Ronnie Fulton; his mother, Ora Lee Fulton; and his father, Carl Fulton. The memory of those who went before him remained a lasting part of his life, and he now rests with them in peace.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 10, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Meridian First Baptist Church, 207 North Hill Street, Meridian, Texas 76665.

John Richard Fulton will be remembered as a faithful family man, a helper to everyone around him, and a man whose hands and heart were always at work for others. His life was a blessing, and his memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
