John Stanley Moore, born on September 17, 1938, in Hillsboro, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025, at a nursing facility in Clifton, surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M., Thursday, September 4, 2025 at the Walnut Springs Baptist Church. Pastor TJ Joyner will officiate. Visitation will take place at 9 A.M., Thursday, September 4 at the church. Burial will follow the funeral service at Ridgepark Cemetery in Hillsboro.

John graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1957. Following his high school graduation, he pursued his passion for football at the University of Oklahoma on a full-ride scholarship. John displayed his commitment to serve by enlisting in the Army National Guard, embodying the values of duty and resilience throughout his life. John later attended seminary in Fort Worth, where he deepened his faith and commitment to serving the Lord. A devoted Christian, he lived his life as a witness to God’s love and found great purpose in his walk with Christ. Beyond his service and accomplishments, John found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping, appreciating the outdoors and the peace it brought him. Yet above all, his greatest passion was being with his family and creating special moments together. John’s journey was defined not only by his early years and educational pursuits but also by the deep connections he forged along the way. His presence in the lives of those around him enriched their experiences, leaving a positive impact that will not soon be forgotten. In the hearts of his family, John will remain a guiding light, and his legacy will continue through the lives he touched during his remarkable journey

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 63 years, Lalia Kay Moore; children, Amanda Kay Gunn and husband, John, Phillip Stanley Moore and wife, Holly, Diana Leigh Davis and husband, Les; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Lana Kay Jackson and husband, Larry; numerous other relatives and many friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, Julian B. and Burna Lee Moore; and his son, John Bradley Moore.
