John Dennis Robertson, age 78, of Meridian, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 1, 2014, in Hamilton, Texas.

A memorial service was held at the family ranch, Bagpipe Flats Ranch, 347 PR# 2353,Meridian, Texas, 76665, on Saturday, September 6, 2014, at 2:00 P.M.

Born in Dinuba, California on August 9, 1936, John Dennis Robertson began his exciting journey through life. Dennis was the oldest son of John and M. Gurene Robertson, survived by sister, Marilyn Mills, and 2 brothers, Bruce Robertson and Ronald Robertson.

After graduating from Tulare Union High School he attended Fresno State University where he lettered in baseball and basketball. He served in the armed forces as a paratrooper then returned to college to graduate with his history degree. His adventurous spirit led hime to hire on with the California Youth Authority as a parole agent for 27 years. He raised seven children, Shawn, Shannon, Shell, Mary, Andrew, Amy, and Dominic. Dennis is survived by his wife, Kathleen Zak Robertson; 6 children; 16 grandchildren, Trudy, Troy, Trisa, Tristen, Tasha, Kara, Devin, Hunter, Nicole, Johnathan, Elizabeth, Riley, Zakary, Evelyn, David, and Emily; 10 great0grandchildren, Abby, Austin, Katie, Claire, Mathew, Aiden, Olivia, Jackson, Joshua, and baby girl Robertson; He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Shawn.

Dennis' audacious spirit surrounded him with many friends and a larger than life family. Dennis loved with his whole heart!! He had a passion for art and all things in nature, plants, animals, with a curiosity in exotic animals. He was an avid cartoonist, sculptor, wood worker, and painter. He could mow the hay field for hours on end. He enjoyed politics, fast cars, Harley's, and sports. Go Lady Bears and Battlin' Bulldogs!! Dennis will be missed and fondly remembered by all.
