Johnnie LaJean Davenport

Johnnie LaJean "JJ" Davenport age 47, of Meridian, passed away unexpectedly on May 10, 2021 in Clifton, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at Noon on Friday, May 21, 2021 at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian. Supt. Jack Landrum, Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in the Morgan Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Thursday, May 20, 2021 also at Lawson Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Eric Davenport, Dathen Davenport, Derick Davenport, Miguel Estrada, Jordon Edwards, Ryan Davenport, Justin Mitchell, and Ricky Galindo, Jr.

Known by family and friends as JJ, she was born to Margurite Sue Davenport and the late John W. Sadler, Sr. on August 24, 1973. JJ attended the MISD schools, beginning in head start, elementary, junior high and eventually graduated from high school. She was able to attend college and at the time of her demise she would have graduated in December of this year with a degree in Criminal Justice. Several years ago JJ was having some issues in her life, she started attending the United Pentecostal Church, there she professed her faith and was eventually baptized by Bro Lee Bailey, Jr. JJ loved her family especially her nieces and nephews. Many time you could hear her being the disciplinarian. As you can tell by the video she loved to take selfies. She also loved birds, plants and flowers. JJ loved to cook and to share her delicious recipes. She worked for over 20 plus years as a Certified Nurses Aide. Her stints covered Bosque County, Valley Mills, Clifton and also Meridian working in long term care. She considered it a blessing to be named after her now deceased aunt, Sissy (Johnnie Louise Davenport).

Preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Gladys and Harvey Davenport, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Annie and Jimmy Sadler; and aunt, Johnnie Louise "Sissy" Davenport.

Left to cherish her memories are her mother, Margurite Sue Davenport; sisters, Audrey Torres, Angela Galindo; brothers, John Sadler, Jr., Raymond Sadler; aunts, Frances Sadler, Ollie Carter, Joyce Crawford, Wanda Sedberry; uncles, Raydell Watley; great-aunt, Faye Clay; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Arrangements were made by Lawson Funeral Home, Meridian, Texas 254-435-2792.
