Kenneth Strange

Kenneth B. Strange, age 84, of Meridian, passed away early Saturday morning, April 26, 2014, in the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 29,2014, in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Beverly Blackman-Mounce, John Michael Mounce, and Jon Strange officiating. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Walnut Springs. Pallbearers were Trey Able, David Torrez, Shae Theilen, Clint Gray, Brett Payne and Jared Atchison.

A visitation was held from 6 to 8 P.M., Monday, April 28, in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel.

The family asks that memorials may be to the Oak Grove Cemetery Association., 1051 FM# 203, Walnut Springs, Texas, 76690.

Kenneth was born November 18, 1929, in Corpus Christi, Texas, a son of Burnett Porter Strange and Hallie Francis Green Strange. He and his family moved to Walnut Springs while he was still very young, and that is where he was raised and finished high school. Kenneth enrolled at the University of Texas in Austin and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked for the Texas State Highway Department, Bell County, City of Temple, and later for Turner, Collie, and Braden Engineering and Management firm. On March 3, 1951, he was united in marriage to Bette Davis in Walnut Springs, Texas. Kenneth was a member of the Church of Christ and proudly served with the United States Army from 1947 until 1950. He was also a Mason and a member of the Walnut Springs Masonic Lodge #959.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Bette, of Meridian; children, David Strange and wife, DeeAnna, of Houston, Jon Strange and wife, Suzanne, of Katy, Bridget and Ron Holland, of Georgetown, Kelly Torrez and husband, David, of Denver, Colorado, and Shannon Able and husband, Conover, of Houston; grandchildren, Trey Able, Corie Green, Julie Gray, Maggie Payne, Samantha Atchison, Victoria Strange, Elizabeth Strange, and Conley Strange; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sherron Thomas of Walnut Springs and Jennie Parr of Arlington; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
