Linda McRae

Linda McRae, age 66, of China Spring, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior very unexpectedly at a local hospital on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, with family and friends by her side.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Lake Shore Church of Christ located at 2800 Lake Shore Dr., Waco, Texas, with Minister Ernie Christie officiating. Interment was at the Bosqueville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Alex Ward, Andy Ward, Jesse Dominquez, Jeremy West, Chris Callaway, and Kyle Callaway.

Linda McRae was born on March 6, 1948 in Poteet, Texas, to S.J. and Myra Fussell Callaway. Linda attended primary school at Gholson, secondary school at West and received her teaching certificate from North Texas State University in Denton. On January 31, 1970, she married her best friend and love of her life, Ervin McRae, in Waco, Texas. She was blessed with a loving family and together, Linda and Ervin raised two children, Michele and Christy Erin. She taught first graders at China Spring ISD for more than 30 years. Linda was an educator at heart and always had a kind manner and soft-spoken words. Linda will be remembered as a great teacher to both her students and fellow teachers.

As a great Christian steward, Linda was always teaching and leading her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and generations of neighborhood children to be servers of Our Lord.


Linda is survived by her husband: Ervin McRae of China Spring; daughters, Michele Walts and husband, John, of Bosqueville, Christy Erin McRae of China Spring; grandchildren: Kourtney Scism and husband, Gary, Krysten Walts, Jesse Troutt, Cole Walts and Cameron McRae; 1 great-grandchild, Reagan Scism; her mother, Myra Callaway of Gholson; sisters, Bonnie Alexander and husband, Dave, of Denver, Colorado, Nancy Upchurch of Denver, Colorado, Lois Ward of Gholson; brother, Steve Callaway and wife, Caroline, of Houston, and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

The family gratefully encourages in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Lake Shore Church of Christ, 2800 Lake Shore Dr., Waco, Texas 76708, Mission Waco, 1315 N. 15th St., Waco, Texas 76707, or St Jude Children's Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Linda will be dearly missed by her loved ones, friends, and neighbors.
