Lois Bailey

Lois Phelps Bailey, age 95, of Meridian, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013, in a Meridian nursing facility.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, November 3, 2013, in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial in the Meridian Memorial Cemetery. Serving as her pallbearers were Jerry Phelps, III, Stephen Phelps, Payton Phelps, Charles Phelps, Jay Furnish and Maria Garza.

Lois was born Feb. 17, 1917, in Huntsville, Texas and lived there and in the Houston area most of life until moving to Meridian several years ago to be near her son. She was married to Willie Opal Phelps and he died in 1968. She later married Elmo Bailey and he preceded her in death in 1990. Also precededing her in death were her sons, Weldon,in 1988 and Steve, in 2013.

She is survived by a daughter, DeLois Cook and husband, Guy, of Plainview, Texas; a son, Jerry Phelps, and his wife, Joyce, of Meridian; fourteen grandchildren and several great and great-great-grandchildren as well a numerous other relatives.
