Louis Eugene "Gene" Massengale of Meridian, Texas was born on January 20, 1952 in Fort Worth, Texas to Louis Elmer and Gertrude Ogan Massengale. He was born to Eternal Life on January 22, 2018. Gene was 66 years old.

Celebration of Life Services are going to be 1:30 P.M., Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Meridian. Pastor Rane Carpenter and Chaplain Wes McDuffie will conduct the service.

Gene was born on January 20, 1952 in Fort Worth, Texas to Louis Elmer and Gertrude Ogan Massengale. He graduated from Trimble High School in 1969. After high school, Gene joined the United States Air Force Reserves. On June 4, 1971 he married Nancy Storey, also of Fort Worth. To this marriage two children were born, Jason and Traci Massengale. Gene and Nancy were married for 46 years. They spent 40 years living in Crowley, Texas. Gene pursued a career in law enforcement with the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office in 1973. He left the department and when to work for the Missouri Pacific Railroad for 9 years. Gene then returned to Tarrant County Sheriff's officer in their Patrol Division and finished his career at the Tarrant County District Attorney's office as a Criminal Investigator. He retired on June 30, 2011.

Survivors are his wife of 46 years, Nancy Storey Massengale of Meridian; children, Jason Massengale and wife, Maggi, of Lake Whitney, Traci Logsdon and husband, Jay, of Granbury; grandchildren, Brazos and Canyon Massengale, and Gavin, Levi, and Avari Logsdon; brother, Robert Bagwell and wife, Linda, of Granbury; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, Louis Elmer and Gertrude Ogan Massengale; and brother, James Bagwell.
