Marie Elizabeth Colby Shelton, age 49, of Meridian passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 in Meridian, Texas.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Monday, November 7, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Clifton, Texas with Dr. Jerry Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian.Pallbearers will be Stephen Colby, Justin Owens, Bobby Richards, Mike Chovanec, Todd Hyatt, and Rosie Zapata. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Chovanec and Ronny Owens.

Marie Elizabeth Colby was born on October 21, 1967 in Garden Grove, California to Leo E. and Mary Lou Dickson Colby. She was raised and graduated school in Apple Valley, California. While in high school she played in the band, volleyball, basketball, and ran track. She received a full scholarship for volleyball to Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego. Marie has lived in California, Arizona, Kansas, Georgia, Colorado, and Texas. She moved to Texas in March of 2016. While in Texas she worked for Farm Bureau in Clifton as their secretary. One of Marie's hobbies was traveling. She has been to Europe, Caribbean Islands, Mexico, and Hawaii. In her free time she enjoyed exercising and hanging out with her friends and family no matter the occasion. She will be missed by all that got the privilege to cross paths with her.

She is survived by her daughter, Suzie Santos and husband, John, of Corona, California; grandson, Jonathan Santos of Corona, California; mother, Mary Lou Colby of Lakewood, Colorado; brother, Michael Colby of Valley Mills; nieces, Kirsten Owens and husband, Justin, of Valley Mills, Amanda Rodriguez and husband, Anthony, of Plano; nephew, Stephen Colby and wife, Krista of Stephenville; sister-in-law, Nancy Chovanec and husband, Joe, of Meridian.

Preceded in death by her father, Leo. E. Colby.
