Mary Carley

Mary C. Carley, age 95, of Morgan, Texas, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2015 in a Hillsboro nursing facility.

Funeral services are to be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 1:00 P.M., at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian with Bro. Phil Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at the Morgan Cemetery in Morgan, Texas. A visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Lawson Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Gary Orfield, Durwood Koonsman, Jim Lamb, Wayne Young, Richard Young and Carl Young.

Mary was born on December 3, 1919 in Reagan, Texas to William Carl and Mary Dickens Young. She grew up and educated in Reagan. Mary worked in the Falls County Courthouse for several years until marrying R. L. Carley. The couple moved to Morgan in 1944 where they operated Carley's Grocery and Dry Goods. Her husband passed away in 1959 and she continued operating the store until 1979 when she retired. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She is survived by four generations of 64 nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents: William and Mary Dickens Young; and her husband: Rufus L. Carley.
