Niccie Nicole Sterling, a remarkable woman known for her vibrant spirit and infectious laughter, passed away suddenly at her residence on October 26, 2025. Born on March 14, 1966, in Hico, Texas, Niccie lived her life with a passion that inspired all who knew her.

A proud graduate of Meridian High School in 1984, Niccie went on to attend Hill College, where she furthered her pursuit of knowledge and opportunity. For many years, she devoted herself to her career as a Secretary, first in a dental office and later at Walnut Springs ISD. Niccie’s unwavering work ethic shone brightly throughout her life; she was known for being able to secure a position anywhere she desired, proudly choosing her path with enthusiasm.

Niccie was more than just a professional; she was a true artist at heart. Her creative spirit led her to craft a life-size Flintstone car out of papier-mâché, a testament to her imagination and joyful nature. She was also the spirited force behind personalized yard signs for local football boys, spreading cheer and pride within her community. There was an aura of fun wherever Niccie was, and she felt a profound joy in celebrating life and all its moments. Excited to embrace her 59th year and the beauty of her grey hair, she exemplified the essence of living fully and authentically.

Meeting the love of her life in 1990 marked a significant chapter in Niccie's life, one filled with a bond that reflected a rare and beautiful sincerity. Together with her husband, Vincent Sterling, they built a life rich in love and laughter that was admired by many. Niccie’s utmost pride was her son, Zach, whom she cherished deeply. As a mother and grandmother, she poured her heart into nurturing her family, creating lasting memories marked by kindness and love. Her grandchildren, including Hagan Scott Sterling, Amelia Mae Sterling, Aden McNett, Cobin McNett, and Daniel Mendoza, daughter-in-law, Amber, alongside many other grandchildren and loved ones, were the lights of her life.

Niccie was blessed with a close-knit family that included her mother, Sherron Thomas, and her sister, Penny Penney. She remained connected to her nieces and nephews, Natalie Brook Hood and husband Kyle, Ashley Renee Gray and husband Byron, Chase Stevens and wife Lacy, Olivia Nicole Gann and husband Kody, Tyler Grant Cannon and wife Amanda, and Skylar Ann Chitwood and husband Jeremy, cherishing every moment shared with them.

Her memory is also honored by those who have predeceased her, including her brother Newell V. Bennett Jr., father Newell V. Bennett Sr., sister Jennifer Lee Cannon, and step-father Clyde "Red" Thomas. Each of these loved ones have left lasting impressions in Niccie's heart, which she carried with her throughout her life.

Niccie Nicole Sterling's legacy is one of love, creativity, and a joyful spirit. She touched the lives of many, with the ability to talk to anyone, engaging hearts and fostering connections wherever she went. Her perfectionism in everything she did was matched only by her commitment to making life sweeter for everyone around her.

Though her soul has departed this earthly realm, the footprints she left behind will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. Niccie, with her laughter and love, reminds us all of the joy of living fully. She will be missed dearly, but her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives she has enriched.
