Paulette Mayfield McGlamery

April 9, 1947 — April 13, 2026

Meridian, Texas

Today we gather to honor and celebrate the life of Paulette Mayfield McGlamery, who passed away on April 13, 2026. She was a faithful woman of God and a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend.

Paulette was born on April 9, 1947, in San Antonio, Texas, to Frances and J.C. Mayfield. The youngest of five children, she grew up in the West Texas town of Seminole, where she often helped care for her sister’s children, Greg and Kammy, during her teenage years. From an early age, she displayed a servant’s heart, quiet strength, and steady determination—qualities that would define her life. She excelled in athletics, playing volleyball and basketball, and proudly served as drum major of her high school marching band.

After attending Tarleton College, Paulette moved to Dallas and began a career in the real estate title industry. It was there she met the love of her life, James Thomas “Jim” McGlamery. They were married on October 3, 1970, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned more than four decades.

Together, Paulette and Jim built a life centered on faith, family, and community. They welcomed their daughter, Kim, in May 1972, and their son, Jason, in April 1974. They raised their family in Rowlett, Texas, where Paulette created a home filled with warmth, hospitality, and care.

Paulette believed her highest calling was that of wife and mother, and she lived that calling fully. She was deeply involved in her children’s lives—supporting their education, coaching sports, serving on community boards and church committees, and opening her home to others. Her house was always welcoming, her garden immaculate, and her generosity evident in all she did.

She and Jim were active members of First Baptist Church in Rowlett and later attended Lake Pointe Baptist Church, where their children were involved in youth programs. Paulette lived out her faith daily through kindness, service, and compassion, never seeking recognition.

She found joy in life’s simple and creative pursuits. An avid baker, painter, and gardener, Paulette loved creating beauty around her. She also had a deep love for horses and fulfilled a lifelong dream when she and Jim purchased a horse. She later raised and trained her own colt—something she took great pride in.

In 1996, the family moved to Fairview, Texas, where Paulette managed a local RE/MAX office. Though always devoted first to her family, she returned to her career in real estate once her children were grown.

In 2003, she found their perfect retirement home in Meridian, Texas, and moved there full-time to begin restoring the property, with Jim joining her on weekends. Together, they became active members of the community, volunteering countless hours with the Helping Hands Food Pantry.

After Jim’s passing in 2013, Paulette continued caring for what she lovingly called the “McGlamery Homestead,” faithfully tending to the home and life they built together.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas “Jim” McGlamery; her mother, Frances Johnston; her father, J.C. Mayfield; her brothers, Bobby and Richard Mayfield; and her sisters, Glenna Bean and Sandra Hughes.

Paulette is survived by her daughter, Kim Owens and her husband, Steve, of Corinth, Texas; her son, Jason McGlamery, of Plano, Texas; and her cherished grandchildren, Sarah, Jack, and Caroline McGlamery, all of Plano. She is also survived by many extended family members and dear friends who will carry her love and legacy forward.

While we grieve her passing, we do so with hope. As Scripture reminds us in 2 Corinthians 5:8, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” We take comfort in knowing that Paulette is at peace, reunited with Jim and those who went before her, and resting in the presence of her Savior.

Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her faith an example to us all.

Funeral services will be held at Lawson Funeral Home on Thursday, April 23, 2026. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Karl Don Hughes. A graveside service will follow at Meridian Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local memory care unit or assisted living facility in support of those facing Alzheimer’s disease.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Mayberry Gardens in Denton, Texas, and the team at Angel Hands Hospice for their compassionate care.
