Phillip Guinn

Phillip Wayne "Phil" Guinn age 74, of Meridian, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017 in a Waco, Texas hospital surrounded by his friends and family.

A memorial funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 2:00 P.M., at the Meridian First Baptist Church with Rev. Colin Errington officiating.

Phillip Wayne Guinn was born on April 5, 1942 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Floyd Orville and Edith Virginia Lane Guinn. He graduated from Abernathy High School. After high school he went to West Texas State University where he graduated with his BA degree in Education. Phil taught school at numerous places. He met Susan Taylor in O'Donnell, Texas and they were united in marriage on February 14, 1971 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple moved to Meridian in 1997 when Phil took a job at the Bosque Valley Golf Club as course manager. He served as the golf course manager for 11 years before his retirement. After retiring from Bosque Valley he soon went to work being a Pilot Car Driver for oversize loads. In his last few years Phil was able to see most of the United States as he traveled leading the oversize loads. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Meridian. Phil will truly be missed by all that had the privilege to know him and play golf with him.

Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife, Susan Guinn of Meridian; children, Tommy Gibson and wife, Robbie, of Glen Rose, Tana Setliff and husband, Bruce of Fritch, Texas, Kenneth Guinn of Meridian, Amy Samsury and husband, Chris, of Acworth, Georgia; 7 grandchildren; sisters, Ginger Shadden of Stephenville, Marge Tannehill and husband, Lane, of Post, Texas, Betty Ann Ivey and husband, Willie Jack, of Levelland, Texas; numerous other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Edith Lane Guinn; brother, Floyd "Buddy" Guinn; and grandsons, Sage Gibson and Christopher Setliff.
