Rachel Carter

Rachel Burney Barnett Carter, age 87, of Katy and formerly of Morgan, Texas passed away on January 30, 2017 in Katy, Texas.

Graveside services were held Friday, February 3, 2017 at 4:00 P.M., at Smith Bend-Coon Creek Cemetery. Bro. Bill Barnett officiated at the service.

Rachel Burney was born on November 16, 1929 at her home outside of Meridian, Texas to Lawrence L. and Lillie Mae Wright Burney. She attended and graduated from Morgan High School. After high school she moved to Fort Worth where she raised her children. She then remarried and moved to Houston where she resided for 15 years before returning back to Morgan. For the past eleven years Mrs. Carter resided in Waco. Mrs. Carter was a secretary, working in the insurance business for 30 years in many different places. In her free time she loved to sew and read. She will be truly missed by all.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Wayne Barnett and wife, Barbara, of Walling Bend, Bro. Bill Barnett and wife, Nancy, of Oneonta, Alabama, Sandra Barnett of Katy, Betty Ibarra and husband, Adolfo, of Davenport, Florida; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
