Ray Piner, of Meridian, passed away Monday afternoon, January 1, 2018, at his residence in Meridian, with loving family and friends at his side.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 A. M., Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Meridian First United Methodist Church with Rev. Daniel Hawkins officiating. Interment will be at St. Olaf Lutheran Rock Church Cemetery in Cranfills Gap. Pallbearers will be Chris Davis, Larry Davis, Carl Jones, Scott Siwald, Ed McMahon, and Ronnie Ticer. A visitation will be held Thursday, January 4th, from 6:00 until 8:00 P. M. at Lawson Funeral Home, Meridian.

Ray Piner, Jr. was born July 23, 1932 in Ozona, Texas to Ray and Olene Carlson Piner. He was proud to be an Eagle Scout. Ray graduated from Ozona High School and went to North Texas State University, now known as the University of North Texas, and graduated with a BBA degree. He was a Sigma Phi Epsilon brother while in college. It was Ray's honor to have served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On May 16, 1959, Ray married Fayrene Elizabeth Davis in Snyder, Texas. Ray worked for Cosden Oil, which became American Petrofina, and quickly moved up in the company from salesman to district manager to the corporate offices. Ray and Fayrene moved to Meridian in 1985 and Ray retired from American Petrofina in 1997. Both Ray and Fayrene were active members of the Meridian First United Methodist Church, contributing their time and talents, not only to their church, but to their community.

Survivors include his daughter, Shauna Piner Walde of San Antonio, Texas; son, Kevin Ray Piner of San Diego, California; sister, Edith Davis and husband, Jim, of Meridian; sister-in-law, Betty Piner of Plano, Texas; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Piner, Sr. and Olene Carlson Piner; his wife, Fayrene Piner; and his brother, Tom Piner.
