Rhonda LaNell Stegall, a beloved soul known affectionately as Aunt Nell to so many, peacefully passed away in her sleep on May 18, 2026, in Clifton, Texas. Born on December 11, 1955, in Waco, Texas, LaNell’s life was a gentle testament to kindness, dedication, and warmth—qualities that touched all who knew her.
LaNell’s journey was marked by her earnest commitment to nurturing others, a calling evidenced by her career as a childcare worker at Bible Baptist Church in Cleburne, Texas. She also served as a Nutrition Specialist at Goodall Witcher Hospital in Clifton, Texas, where she combined her care for health with deep compassion. Proudly, she earned an associate degree in Journalism from Hill Junior College, which fueled her love for stories and reading throughout her life.
Her personality shone brightly through her passions and interests. LaNell was an avid reader, with “Gone With the Wind” holding a special place in her heart. She delighted in classic pop music, classical comics, and the timeless charm of classical television shows. Hand in hand with these hobbies, she found great joy in embroidery—an art that reflected her patient and meticulous nature.
Cherished memories of LaNell often bring smiles: she was remembered fondly for always pointing upwards to introduce her baby brother, a playful gesture linked to his stature, and for riding her bicycle endlessly during summer days, reveling in the simple pleasures of childhood.
LaNell's family was a cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her sister Denise Wallace; her brother Kenneth Stegall and his wife Laurie; Tom Gauntt; and an extended family of many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews, along with numerous dear friends. Their lives were enriched by her generous spirit, especially her pride in always gifting loved ones with a glow worm—a small token that radiated the light she carried within. She was preceded in death by her mother Muriel Stegall, her father Charlie Stegall, and her sister Norma Fobbs.
A graveside service will be held on May 22, 2026, beginning at 1:00 PM at Kimball Cemetery, 2928 Texas 174, Kopperl, Texas, 76652. This gathering will be a time for family and friends to celebrate LaNell's life and legacy—a soul who lived with unwavering grace, laughter, and love.
