Ronnie "Doo Dah" Ray Cox

Apr 29, 1953 — Oct 18, 2026

Walnut Springs, Texas

Ronnie “Doo Dah” Ray Cox, of Walnut Springs, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on October 18, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born on April 29, 1953, in Fort Worth, Texas and throughout his life he carried a spirit that was unforgettable to everyone who knew him.

Ronnie attended L.D. Bell High before joining the U.S. Army, where he served for four years in the early 1970s and received his GED. He later worked as a postman in Grapevine, Texas, for more than 20 years before retiring. Along his route, he became known to all his delivery addresses as “Doo Dah,” a nickname made even more memorable by the way he would whistle “Camptown Races” as he made his rounds. It was a simple, joyful trademark that reflected the kind of man he was—familiar, warm, and impossible to forget.

He will be remembered as the loudest, funniest, and most loving man in the room, with a heart like his mama’s. Doo Dah never met a stranger and would talk to anyone and everyone, whether they were ready for a conversation or not. He was known for his great generosity and was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back. He also played the guitar like no other, bringing his own energy and spirit wherever he went.

Doo Dah loved westerns, especially the old black-and-white classics. He could watch the same one again and again until he knew it word for word, happily reciting every line. Those who knew him best will remember not only his laughter and his stories, but the comfort of his familiar presence, his music, and the way he made everyday moments feel full of life.

Above all, Doo Dah was a proud grandfather to all his babies, and his family was at the center of his heart. He is survived by his sons, Cory Cox and his wife Jennifer, and Justin Cox. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Carleigh Cox, Brennan Cox, and Little Justin Cox, as well as his great-grandsons, Bodhi Cox and Cecil Weimer. Doo Dah is also survived by his sisters, Barbara Wieder, Patsy Ruth Cox, and Peggy Jo McGlashan; his brother Rickey “Crash” Lynn Cox and his wife Susie; and his brother Jimmie Dean Cox and his wife Melanie. The love he gave so freely will continue to live on in each of them, and in the many memories they will carry forward.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kerri Denise Cox; his mother, Viola Bailey Cox; his father, Charles Everett Cox; and his brother, Charles Everett Cox, Jr.

A burial service will be held on October 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at the Cox Family Cemetery, located at 412 County Road 2700, Walnut Springs, Texas 76690.

Ronnie “Doo Dah” Ray Cox leaves behind a legacy of laughter, music, conversation, and love. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
