Ruby Ernestine Damron Gilbreath passed away on October 4, 2021 in Cresson, Texas.
Graveside funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 5, 2021 in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Those who walk uprightly enter into peace. They find rest in death. - Isaiah 57:2
The middle child of 7 (6 girls and 1 boy) to Ernest and Ruby Damron, all preceding her in death. She married Leonard Gilbreath on October 22, 1950, 5 children, 3 dying at birth; 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren (and a 5th she never got to meet).
"Teny" as known by most, loved her God and everyone knew if the church doors were open she was there. An amazing country cook, seamstress (making most of hers and her children's clothing), a quilter, singer of family songs, great story teller and the best family historian. Although quite frugal with herself, a truly generous soul with others never expecting anything in return. She loved those garage sale bargains and rarely could pass one without stopping. Later in their 70 year marriage she and Daddy kept a total of 17 foster children; a sometimes challenging and heartbreaking task/gift. But her love for children kept her doing her part. Another great joy in life was helping Daddy at the task of cutting and selling wood, climbling the "mountains" at Peaceful Valley where they built their home in Bosque County in the 80s at their retirement. Oh, and helping him haul hay - a true country girl at heart. This last year with mounting health issues and missing Daddys so much, she faithfully and often looked forward to this day of reunion with loved ones who've gone before.
In lieu of flowers she would be honored with donations made to either:
Granbury Christian Service Center or Stephenville Fosters Home for Children
Arrangements were entrusted to Lawson Funeral Home, Meridian, Texas 254-435-2792.
