Sarita Lytton Ellis

Sarita Lytton Ellis passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026, in Clifton, Texas. She was born on November 16, 1946, in Corpus Christi, Texas, and lived a life marked by warmth, energy, generosity, and deep love for the people and animals around her.

Sarita graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Austin, Texas, and went on to graduate from Texas Christian University, where she was a member of the sorority Alpha Delta Pi. She devoted many years to education as a teacher with Hurst Euless Bedford ISD before becoming the librarian for the Meridian Public Library in Meridian, Texas. In both the classroom and the library, she was known for her dedication, especially her love of helping children. She gave herself fully to the work of encouraging others, and her care for her community was felt by all who knew her.

She was a true spitfire, outgoing and full of life, a people person who never met a stranger. Sarita was the one who helped others without hesitation, and she brought joy wherever she went. She was often the life of the party, a beloved figure whose presence could brighten a room. She loved her friends and family dearly and treasured the simple happiness of sharing a glass of wine and a wonderful visit to catch up.

Sarita also had a remarkable love for animals. She loved pets and especially her dogs, and she had a special gift with animals that made her seem like an animal whisperer. She took in strays, loved horses and cows, and extended her natural kindness to every creature that crossed her path.

Among the greatest joys of her life was becoming a mother to her daughter, Sarah. That role was one of her proudest accomplishments and one she held close to her heart.

She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Duckett of San Francisco, California; her sister, Molly Lytton of Honolulu, Hawaii; and her sister-in-law, Susan Lytton of Austin, Texas. She is also lovingly remembered by her niece, Andrea Fitzpatrick of Austin, Texas, and Andrea’s husband, Billy; and by her nephew, Edward Lytton of Denver, Colorado, and Edward’s wife, Iliana. Each of them carries forward the memory of Sarita’s lively spirit, generous heart, and the love she so freely gave.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Don Ellis; her mother, Mary Elizabeth Lytton; her father, Lee Lytton Jr.; and her brother, Lee Lytton III.

Sarita will be remembered for her vibrant personality, her devotion to children and learning, her compassion for animals, and the deep affection she had for family and friends. Her life was full of conversation, laughter, service, and love, and her memory will remain a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
