Sue Williams Burns age 79, of Kopperl, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 8, 2017 in a Wylie, Texas nursing facility.

Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M., Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Kopperl First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Tom Henderson and Rev. Michael Martin officiating. Burial will be at the Kopperl Cemetery in Kopperl. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian. Serving as pallbearers will be Eugene Day, Patrick Christian, Jacob Christian, Nicholas Christian, Justin Burns, Terry Burns, Jonathan Burns, and Jeremy Burns. Honorary pallbearer will be Matthew North.

Sue Williams was born on February 13, 1937 in Lamb County, Texas to Sherrill Densmore and Emma Bertha Whitehorn Williams. After high school, Sue received her cosmetology license and furthered her education to teach cosmetology, even training and modeling hair design in Europe with her cosmetology instructor. Sue was married to Charles Wayne Burns on January 22, 1961; they were married 55 years when her youngest daughter entered furst grade in 1973, Sue went to work for Kopperl ISD as a school secretary. While there she was also a school bookkeeper and did the PEIMS reporting. After 22 years of service she retired and served as a school board member for several years. She faithfully taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church in Kopperl for many years. She was very artistic. Scattered throughout the family are numerous needle pointed angles, crocheted blankets, and cross stitched Christmas stocking. Sue was known as "Puddin" by her husband Charles which some students at school quickly adopted, "NaNa" by her grandchildren and "Suzie" by a multitude of friends and family.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Dena Day and husband, Eugene, of Cleburne, Lisa Christian and husband, Patrick, of Garland; grandchildren, Jacob, Emily, and Nicholas Christian, Taylor and Brooke Day; brother, Jimmy Williams of Fort Bragg, California; many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Burns on September 16, 2016; her parents, Sherrill Densmore and Emma Bertha Whitehorn Williams; siblings, Faye Symmes and James Williams.
