Ted "Bear" Whitt, Sr., age 56, of Walnut Springs, passed away Saturday morning, January 4, 2014, at his residence.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 7, 2014, in the Walnut Springs School Auditorium with Brady Dempsey officiating. Burial was in the Fulton Cemetery near Walnut Springs. The Walnut Springs Masonic Lodge #959 was in charge of Masonic graveside rites. Pallbearers were members of the Walnut Springs Masonic Lodge #959.

"Bear" was born October 10, 1957,in San Angelo, Texas. He was a son of Patricia A. Reece Whitt and the late Eddie M. Whitt. Bear was raised and
educated in Morgan. On May 23, 1986, he was united in marriage to Tracy Ratliff in Glen Rose. He was working as the ranch foreman for the W. K. Gordon Ranch (where he had worked for 33 years) near Walnut Springs and was a true cowboy.

Bear will be remembered as a loving husband, father, mentor to youth, and a friend to all. Not enough words can be expressed for the loss of this strong and loving man.

He attended the Walnut Springs Baptist Church, and was a member of the Walnut Springs Masonic Lodge, Walnut Springs School Board, Walnut Springs Business for Youth and Agriculture, Central Texas Youth Fair, and the Walnut Springs Lumber Yard "Social Club."

He is survived by his wife, Tracy, of Walnut Springs; sons, Teddie Dee Whitt, Jr. and wife, Brandy, of Walnut Springs, Jesse Whitt and wife, Molly, of Walnut Springs, Eddie Whitt of Walnut Springs and Tristan Whitt of Walnut Springs; daughters, Rebecca Mills and husband, Chad, of Kerrville, Kaitlyn Whitt and Cheyenne Whitt, both of Walnut Springs; grandchildren, Makenley and Paige Mills of Kerrville, and Dustin Whitt and Jaycie Whitt, of Walnut Springs; mother, Patricia Whitt of Red Oak; brothers, Lewayne Whitt and wife, Sandy, of Whitewright, Shorty Whitt and wife, Janie, of Kerrville, Patrick Whitt and wife, Tracy, of Midlothian; number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
