Thelma Stiers Cook, age 98, of Kopperl, passed away Wednesday evening, March 28, 2018, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, April 2, 2018, in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Morgan Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time.
Thelma was born January 13, 1920, in Judsonia, Arkansas, a daughter of the late Luther Hyman Stiers, Sr. and Lelia Overstreet Stiers. On July 4, 1940, she was united in marriage to James Kelley Cook in Houston, Texas. She lived there for several years where she operated her own beauty shop. She and her husband moved to Kopperl in 1989 where they farmed and ranched. Thelma was a member of the Kopperl First United Methodist and a member of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Kelley Cook; her son, Charles L. Cook; sister, Janie McGregor; brother, Luther H. Stiers, Jr.
Her survivors include her daughter-in-law, Patty Cook; grandchildren, Casey Cook and wife, Courtney, Kelley Nicole Cook; great-grandchildren, Lily and Ellie Cook; sister, Doris Ann Stanley; several other relatives and friends.
The family gives a big THANK YOU to her caregivers, Joan Holley, Corina Gloria and Jamie Gloria, for their loving care shown Thelma.
