Thomas L. Conrad

Thomas L. Conrad, age 99 of Meridian, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2018 at his residence in Meridian.

Graveside funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at the Clifton Cemetery in Clifton, Texas. Rev. Richard Creech will officiate. Visitation will take place from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian. Pallbearers will be Tim Anderson, Ashtyn Anderson, Corbyn Anderson, Kyle Horstman, Archie Blassingame, and Keifer Baca.

Thomas L. Conrad was born on April 26, 1919 in the Garnersville Community east of Clifton in Bosque County, Texas.   Son of William F. and Josie Rhodes Conrad. He married Elvira Elsie Kleine on July 26, 1941 in the Womack Community near Clifton, Texas.  Thomas was raised on the family farm and later worked for the Powell Ranch for nearly 20 years.  He and is wife moved into Meridian in  1972.  He later worked as a bus driver for the Meridian I.S.D. also was caretaker for the Meridian Cemetery.  Thomas loved to garden and always enjoyed sharing his bounty with family and friends.

Left to cherish his memories are his children, Norma Jean Compton and husband, Charles, of Laguna Park, Cathey Jo Hooper and husband, Ronald, of Fairfield, Donna Conrad of Clifton; grandchildren, Connie Blassingame, Christina Montenegro, and Kyle Horstman; 5 great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and many friends.

Preceded in death by his wife, Elvira Kleine Conrad; parents, WIlliam F. and Josie Rhodes Conrad; and his sister, Mildred Wise.
