Thomas Daugherty

Thomas Dean Daugherty, 82, of Meridian, passed away Thursday morning, February 25, 2016 in a Cleburne nursing facility.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 P. M., Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Church of Christ, Meridian, Texas with Minister Clint Howard officiating. Interment was in the Fowler Family Ranch Cemetery near Meridian.

Serving as pallbearers were Phillip Daugherty, Tanner Singleton, Billy Joe Thomas, J. D. Randolph, Tommy Miller and Benjamin Fowler

Mr. Daugherty was born April 2, 1933, in Electra, Texas where he was raised and educated. He later attended LeTourneau Tech in Tyler, Texas. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years. He was married to Johnnie Loretta King on August 28, 1965 in Electra, Texas. Thomas had been a resident of Meridian for the past 3 years where he was an active and faithful member of the Church of Christ.

After retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and enjoying the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Johnnie, of Meridian; children, Ronald Daugherty, David Daugherty and wife, Michele, of Bridgeport and Janet Singleton and husband, Stacy, of Burleson; step-children, Michael Thomas and wife, Becky, of Vilonia, Arkansas and Luann Howard and husband, Ted, of Sheridan, Arkansas; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Thomas and Nellie Adams Daugherty; a daughter, Denise Golden; his sisters, Evelyn Mitchell and Beatrice Neilsen.
