Tony Gomez, Sr.

Nov 21, 1967 — May 27, 2026

Meridian, Texas

Tony Gomez, Sr., born November 21, 1967, in Dublin, Texas, passed away on May 27, 2026, in Waco, Texas, surrounded by his loving family.

Tony’s journey through life was a testament to the power of hard work, love, and laughter, touching countless lives along the way. From his earliest days, Tony’s hands were tools of both skill and care. Learning mechanic work under the guidance of his step-father, Woody Woosley, who was disabled and owned a used car lot, Tony developed a practical gift for fixing and building. As he grew, his talents blossomed into carpentry and tending to the McPherson Peanut Farm, where his craftsmanship quietly nurtured the land and community around him. His proudest accomplishments include the tangible mark he left on the Bosque County Cowboy Church (BCCC), where his influence and workmanship are evident in the foundation and ongoing growth of this cherished place of worship.

Tony was never just a man of work; his heart beat strongly to the rhythms of music. His love for music began when he learned to play the drums, a passion that carried him far from home. For three months, he traveled with a band in Mexico, carrying his beat across borders. It was a year after returning that Tony met Gwendalyn Kay, the woman who would become his partner in life and love. Settling down from his wilder days, Tony and Gwen built a family grounded in warmth, joy, and unyielding support.

Known for his infectious humor and limitless kindness, Tony was the "class clown," often found spending time in the hallway but always bringing a smile wherever he went. His open-door policy was more than a saying—it was a way of life. Tony was a loyal friend who would rush at a moment’s notice to help anyone in need. He never met a stranger, only future friends, and everyone who knew him has their own stories to tell, stories of laughter, generosity, and genuine love.

His home was a place of warmth, filled with the sounds of cooking, fishing tales, music, and the joy of making toys for children. Tony danced with his wife, Gwen, sharing moments of simple delight that reflected the deep bond they cherished. With a penchant for storytelling, he wove memories and lessons into every conversation, leaving an indelible impression on all who gathered around him.

Tony’s legacy lives on deeply within his beloved family: his devoted wife, Gwen Gomez; his sons, Jacob Kelley and Tony “TJ” Gomez and his wife, Chasity; his daughter, Trishia Lambert, alongside her husband, Kyle; 13 grandchildren who will carry forward his spirit and love. He is also survived by his sisters, Dolorez Hallmark and Belinda Hernandez; five nieces; three nephews; and a wide circle of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were brightened by his presence.

Tony was preceded in death by his cherished parents, Carmel Martinez Woosley and Dolores Gomez, and his son, Alex Kelley, who remain forever in his heart.
