Virgie Cole Bailey, age 85, of Meridian, passed away Tuesday morning, November 26, 2013, in a Rockdale care facility.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M.,Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Creech officiating with burial in the Morgan Cemetery. Services for her son, Barry Leigh Bailey, Sr., was also
held at the same time and place.

Pallbearers were Kevin Bailey, Bradley Bailey, Jr., Leigh Bailey, III, Leigh Bailey Taylor, Chris Hoppe and Robert Barnum.

Virgie was born April 23, 1928, in Morgan, Texas. She was a daughter of the late Arnold and Fannie Shaver Cole. She grew up and was educated in Morgan.
Virgie was a retired beautician and had shops in Morgan and Meridian.

She is survived by a son, Barry Leigh Bailey, Sr. and wife, Alice, of Richmond (and he died one day later on November 27, 2013); her grandchildren, Barry Leigh Bailey, Jr. and his wife, Cindy, of Meridian; Brad Bailey and his wife, Lynn, of Rockdale; Elizabeth Taylor of Charleston, Virginia; and Marie Pack and husband, David, of Bryan; step-grandchildren, Mealissa Hoppe and husband, Chris; and Robert Barnum, all of Richmond; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Nellie Davis; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Fannie Shaver Cole; a daughter, Janice Mata; a great-grandson, Justin Bailey, and several of her siblings.
