William Drexal Wood

William Drexal Wood, a beloved father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025, in Meridian, Texas. Born on March 7, 1962, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, William lived a life characterized by compassion, dedication, and a zest for living.

William pursued his education at Stratford High School in Stratford, Oklahoma, where his love for learning was nurtured, shaping him into the kind and generous person many came to admire. His professional journey led him to become an Engineering Supervisor Senior at Texas Scottish Rite Children's Hospital in Dallas, Texas, where he made a positive impact on children's lives every day.

Outside of his professional endeavors, William was remembered as a phenomenal athlete. His passion for sports was evident in every aspect of his life. Whether playing golf, fishing, or enjoying some target shooting, he embraced the outdoors and instilled the same love for sports in his children. His playful spirit and the easy-going nature made him a joy to be around, and he will forever be remembered as a fun companion who could lighten the mood with a laugh, even when he was being a bit ornery.

As life progressed, William's outgoing personality remained one of his defining traits. He was the kind of person who never met a stranger and always welcomed others with open arms. In his later years, he embraced a more humble lifestyle, finding happiness at home but always ready to rekindle old friendships with a simple phone call. No matter how much time had passed, conversations would flow effortlessly as if they had just seen each other yesterday.

William's proudest accomplishment was being a father, a role he cherished dearly. He is survived by his loving children, Jared Wood, Brandon Turner, and Heather Bolton, who carry forward his legacy of kindness and athletic spirit. His granddaughter, Olivia Wood, brought him immense joy, and he embraced every moment spent with her, nurturing her dreams while sharing the love he carried within.

He leaves behind his dear brothers, Harold, Jay, Matthew and the late Jeffrey Wood, who shared fond memories of their times together, reminding us of the bonds that tie family forever. William was also preceded in death by his father, Henry Wood, and his mother, Armour, both of whom shaped his character and values throughout his life.

As we remember William Drexal Wood, we are grateful for the light he brought into the world, the warmth of his friendship, and the love he shared with all. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as the memories of his laughter and love will echo through the hearts of those who knew him.

In honor of William’s memory, a celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
